Conference Course Highlight

Command, Leadership, and Introduction to Chaos

The course is designed to expand the knowledge of theory and framework for the concepts associated with Leadership in the Fire Service. Participants will review shortfalls that the traditional ICS model tries to employ on every incident and introduce alternatives concepts. There will be an introduction to the “Calm the Chaos” course and review basic concepts to running a division on a structure fire.

The course will be taught by Elko Fire Department’s Chief Johnston. Johnston has 23 years of experience in the Fire Service. He is a credentialed Chief Fire Officer, Chief Training Officer, and Chief EMS Officer with the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Chief Johnston has a Master’s of Science in Emergency Management, Bachelor’s in Fire Administration, Fire Technology, and Psychology and is a Paramedic.
