2024 Annual NSFA Member Meeting to Be Held Via Zoom

June 22, 2024 @ 9AM
Via Zoom

It was with heavy hearts that we announced the cancellation of the Nevada State Firefighter’s Association’s 89th Annual Fire Training Conference, which was to be held in Lovelock, Nevada. This event, a cherished tradition for nearly nine decades, has been a cornerstone of our community, fostering camaraderie, professional development, and the exchange of invaluable skills and knowledge.

The Weight of This Decision

The decision to cancel this year’s conference was not made lightly. We understand the disappointment and frustration this news brought. For many of us, the conference is more than just an event—it’s a gathering of friends and colleagues who share a common mission. It’s a time to learn from one another, to honor our achievements, and to recommit to our vital work of protecting lives and property.

Zoom Etiquette for a Smooth Meeting

To ensure our virtual meeting is productive and respectful, here are some guidelines for good Zoom etiquette:

  1. Register Early: Complete your registration as soon as possible to ensure you receive the meeting details and can address any technical issues beforehand.
  2. Be Punctual: Join the meeting a few minutes early to test your audio and video settings and to avoid disrupting the session once it has started.
  3. Mute Your Microphone: Keep your microphone muted unless you are speaking to minimize background noise and distractions.
  4. Use Video Wisely: If possible, enable your video to create a more engaging and interactive atmosphere. However, be mindful of your surroundings and ensure there is nothing inappropriate or distracting in the background.
  5. Participate Actively: Engage in discussions, ask questions, and contribute your thoughts. Use the “raise hand” feature or the chat function to avoid interrupting others.
  6. Dress Appropriately: Wear appropriate attire as you would for an in-person meeting. This helps maintain a professional atmosphere.
  7. Stay Focused: Avoid multitasking during the meeting to give your full attention to the discussions and presentations.
  8. Technical Preparedness: Ensure you have a stable internet connection and that your device is charged or plugged in to avoid interruptions.

Moving Forward Together

While we will miss the invaluable in-person interactions and the rich experiences of our annual conference, we are confident that our virtual meeting will be a meaningful opportunity to connect and collaborate. Let us use this time to strengthen our bonds and prepare for a brighter, safer future.

Thank you for your understanding and continued dedication. We look forward to seeing you on Zoom and working together to overcome the challenges ahead.

Stay safe, stay strong.

With deep appreciation,
The Nevada State Firefighter’s Association
