Course Description
This 2-day course examines the Safety Officer’s role at emergency responses. A specific focus on operations within an Incident Command System (ICS) as a Safety Officer is a main theme. Response to all-hazards types of situations will be emphasized.
Selection Criteria
Individuals who have a Safety Officer responsibility at emergency operation situations. Persons attending this course should have a working knowledge of the ICS, as taught by NFA, building construction principles, hazardous materials management, applicable NFPA guidelines, and Federal regulations.

Instructor Information
Larry Haydu is an Assistant Fire Chief with the Clark County Fire Department in Las Vegas Nevada. He has been with the Clark County Fire Department since 2010, but has been in the fire service since 1980. During his fire service career, Chief Haydu has held every position from Firefighter to Chief Officer. His primary assignment for the CCFD is Chief of the Rural Division. The Rural Division provides services to 7000 square miles of Clark County and consists of 10 fire stations and 140 volunteer members. Chief Haydu is certified as a Master Instructor and serves as an Adjunct Instructor for the College of Southern Nevada and the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office.
